On November 25, the fifth session of the Seventh Council and the seventh session of the seventh Standing Council of China Intellectual Property Research Association (hereinafter referred to as the Association) were held in Beijing. ZHOU Huiguo, deputy director of the State Intellectual Property Office, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Tian Lipu, chairman of the Research Association, presided over the meeting and made a summary.

In his speech, ZHOU Huiguo fully affirmed the work progress of the Research Association in the past year. He pointed out that China should thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the the fifth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee conference of the party and the Central Committee on the comprehensive rule of law, and adhere to the guidance of Xi Jinping's socialist ideology with Chinese characteristics in the new era. He should deeply understand and resolutely implement the spirit of the important discourse and instructions of general secretary Xi Jinping on intellectual property rights work, and accurately grasp the work of intellectual property in the overall situation of the country's economic and social development. The role and orientation of intellectual property should be considered, planned and promoted in the overall development pattern of the whole country, so as to ensure that the development of intellectual property can keep up with the national rhythm and achieve the same frequency resonance, so as to provide greater assistance for the construction of a new development pattern and the promotion of high-quality and sustainable economic and social development. He stressed that the research association should strengthen its political awareness, unswervingly adhere to the party's overall leadership, firmly grasp the correct direction of running the Research Association and the journal, seriously plan and do a good job in all aspects of the Research Association's work, give full play to the role of intellectual fortress to serve the overall situation of the development of intellectual property cause, pool ideological wisdom, and strive to build a high-end intellectual property think tank.
Tian Lipu said in his summary that at present, with the normalization of epidemic prevention and control and the increasingly complex international situation, adhering to the party's leadership is the fundamental guarantee for promoting the development of the cause. The next step is to strengthen political awareness, always adhere to the leadership of the party, continue to improve the ability and level of academic research, give better play to the role of hub coordination service, and unite all forces to invest in the development of intellectual property.

At the meeting, Chen Yan, Secretary General of the Research Association, made a work report to the conference, comprehensively summarized the main work of the Research Association in 2020, and put forward the work ideas for 2021.
During the meeting, the Council deliberated and approved the articles of association, the revision of rules and regulations, and the adjustment of the list of some members of the Seventh Council. The Standing Council heard the work reports of the professional committees of the society. More than 340 representatives, including Vice Chairman, executive director and director of the Research Association, attended the meeting through the combination of online and offline.
